JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Inogen's product development efforts from concept through production by aiding in design efforts of different groups through various stages of development projects. 

The Project Engineer is also responsible for performing Inogen's Validation and Verification testing in a thorough and efficient manner that is compliant with regulations and internal procedures. To achieve this goal, the Project Engineer must ensure that all test requirements are fulfilled and documented in accordance with established policy and procedures. The Project engineer will work closely with the design engineers and the manufacturing engineers to ensure that products and product changes are thoroughly tested before release and will participate in the release process, manufacturing validation process, and quality/regulatory compliance activities

 

Key Competencies:

  • Participate in product design activities and design for manufacturing activities, including hardware integration/testing and software development/testing.
  • Participate in verification activities, including testing and writing reports.
  • Provide support for design changes including software updates, sustaining projects, and new market releases. 
  • Perform testing required for regulatory agency documentation submission
  • Assist in coordinating outside product testing such as electrical safety testing, gas output analysis testing, HALT testing, and environmental testing

 

Do you possess these abilities?

  • Must have knowledge or desire to learn to implement and utilize lean product development principles
  • Knowledge of FDA GMP and ISO quality systems desired
  • Experience working in an FDA and ISO 13485 regulated environment highly desired
  • Required proficiency in MS Office
  • Attention to detail and follow through required
  • Must have a passion for product quality and excellence
  • Must have interpersonal skills appropriate for interacting with engineering, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing personnel
  • Must be able to document testing activities and produce appropriate test records and reports.

 

Working Conditions (The environment in which the job is performed, outside a normal office environment)

  • The project engineer will primarily work in the Goleta R&D lab and Goleta Mfg floor. Occasional travel to Richardson, TX facility and outside test labs is required.

 

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering or Scientific field required.
  • 1+ year experience in medical device industry desired.
