JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Compliance Specialist will assist the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Director in overseeing Inogen's intake and customer support functions and will work closely with Inogen Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams. Primary responsibilities include: managing and supervising completion of Compliance audits (for internal controls), assisting with external audits of items such as patient records and company procedures relating to Home Medical Equipment (HME) operations and practices, advancing training initiatives and programs for Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams, and facilitating continuous process improvements.

Key Competencies:

  • Responsible for fully understanding regulatory requirements relevant to respiratory equipment and supplies and home medical equipment provider accreditation
  • Responsible for assisting in audits of intake through patient support practices
  • Responsible for reviewing documentation, including but not limited to, dispensing and/or detailed written orders, medical records, and Certificates of Medical Necessity (CMN) to determine if eligibility (per public and private payers) has been properly demonstrated/ supported
  • Responsible for sharing findings identified during internal audits with the Compliance Department to develop and assist with formulating corrective actions/ resolutions
  • Responsible for assisting the Compliance Department in responding to external audit requests associated with HME operations/ practices
  • Ensure Inogen's compliance with all state and federal regulations
  • Ensure that documentation is maintained in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and other applicable regulations

 

Do you possess these abilities?

  • Experience with performing compliance audits (Desired)
  • Experience with HME accreditation (Desired)
  • Experience with Medicare billing (Desired)
  • Experience with respiratory equipment and supplies (Desired)
  • Experience with working with medical sales personnel and managing external consultants (Desired)
  • Detail-oriented with attention to process improvement
  • Ability to work in multiple computer software systems (Desired)

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 0 -2 years' experience in an HME environment
