JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Design Engineer will focus on the design and construction of Inogen products. This work will include design of system components, building prototypes and testing of new systems, and modification of existing systems. The Design Engineer will also work with other engineering team members in the development and improvement of other subsystems such as the pneumatic system, gas separation processes, and various control algorithms.

Key Competencies:

  • Evaluate and implement alternate Pressure Swing Adsorption processes, valving schemes, and sieve bed configurations for increased device efficiency, reliability and/or decreased system cost
  • Evaluate adsorbents for capability to current and future Inogen products. Implement through production when applicable.
  • Develop, enhance, and duplicate Pressure Swing Adsorption test benches
  • Support development and testing of Inogen products as directed by the R&D Manager and other senior engineering staff
  • Maintain detailed documentation of testing and development activities in accordance with Inogen's good documentation procedure
  • Develop and document production and pre-production procedures and processes as necessary to deploy properly validated and in-control processes for manufacturing of Inogen products.
  • Evaluate and report on the performance and specifications of competitive products, including life testing
  • Advance Inogen product life testing facilities and capabilities
  • Apply and implement lean principles, continuous improvement, and 5s practices to product and process development and Inogen lab facilities

 

Do you possess these abilities?

  • Detail oriented with attention to product quality required
  • Self-motivating and capable of self-direction required
  • Experience with pressure swing adsorption preferred
  • Experience with oxygen concentrator design strongly preferred
  • Good attention to detail and accurate and complete documentation required
  • Desire and ability to perform hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting required
  • LabVIEW ability strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of lean methodologies strongly preferred

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. Engineering or related field
  • Experience in solidworks preferred
  • Experienced and proficient in MS office

Work Conditions:

Office, lab, and manufacturing floor environment.  Occasional travel to Inogen Manufacturing sites
