JOB DESCRIPTION 

Provides support as a Billing Customer Service Advocate to internal and external customers, including Inogen's on-service patient base. Proficient comprehension of insurance benefits, reviewing explanation of benefits, and assessing patient responsibility.  Ability to explain and resolve various billing and insurance questions.  Handles insurance questions, and assures the customer's needs are expeditiously addressed.  Provides first round of de-escalation for customer issues. Provides the highest level of service. This role is expected to meet and/or exceed daily/weekly production & quality goals and will carry out Inogen's core values. 

Key Competencies:

  • Responsible for assisting our patients, doctors, customers, and coworkers with billing inquiries at the highest-level support possible.
  • Responsible for the daily inbound phones calls into the billing workgroup, handling of complex issues and de-escalating patients calls
  • Responsible for handling complex issues and de-escalating patient calls
  • Collect and process payments for outstanding open accounts receivable balances
  • Must meet/exceed daily/weekly production & quality KPI
  • Required to communicate with other departments to resolve customer complaints
  • Ensure patient accounts are updated appropriately and timely
  • Ensures Inogen's compliance with all state and federal regulations
  • Adhere to Inogen's Core Values
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Do you possess these abilities?

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Good computer skills including Excel and Word
  • Ability to research complex billing issues, follow through with resolution, and capable of explaining issues to patients clearly and effectively
  • Excellent de-escalation skills, ability to create rapport, and exude professionalism over the phone
  • Must have proven track record of successful team participation as well as ability to work independently and self-start
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to an ever changing, fast-paced environment
  • Must possess good-time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be detail-oriented and analytical to ensure patient responsibility is being assessed properly
  • A complete understanding of Medicare program rules is preferred
  • Experience with Brightree, Salesforce, and/or Oracle preferred
  • Experience working with medical sales personnel and managing external consultants preferred.

Requirements:

  • 1+ Years of Customer Service Experience required
  • 1+ Year of Medicare and Insurance Billing (preferably for oxygen or HME billing) required
