JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Electrical Engineering Project Manager directs, oversees and coordinates the operations and activities of electrical engineering staff, including the planning and execution of electrical engineering related projects. The manager will prioritize and oversee the electrical design change projects to ensure that the necessary planning, documentation, testing, and validation activities are performed and executed to meet project needs. The Electrical Engineering Project Manager will hold and document regular project team meetings, establish and maintain an accurate BOM and schedule for projects, and maintain vendor communication.

Key Competencies:

  • Manage direct reports and engineers as necessary to develop and support Inogen projects and products.
  • Prioritize electrical design changes by assessing business needs and impact.
  • Establish schedules and assess BOM changes for design change projects.
  • Hold and document project team meetings to track progress against schedule, cost, and performance targets/requirements.
  • Lead, manage, and train other engineering resources as necessary to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for testing and development activities in accordance with Inogen's good documentation procedures.
  • Execute design control activities in accordance with Inogen procedures, FDA guidance, and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Track material availability and work with vendors as necessary to ensure product builds occur according to the project schedule prior to production release.
  • Coordinate the planning and completion of design validation and verification activities for product changes including engineering V&V activities as well as communicating changes in specifications or documentation to appropriate departments.
  • Perform production verification and validation testing, including system level and board level testing.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation including technical manual.
  • Support Inogen product development efforts including compressor system, motor control, cooling system, and vibration isolation design, testing, and validation. As necessary, oversee the design and fabrication of parts and fixtures in conjunction with engineering team members.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Assist with any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' in Engineering or related Scientific field, required
  • 5 years' experience in medical device industry, required.
  • 2 years in a project management role or supervisory/lead role, required.
  • 2 years' experience in design control systems and requirements, required.
  • Intermediate knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Intermediate knowledge/proficiency in OrCad or similar schematic, layout, and design software packages, required. (electrical systems)
  • Advanced knowledge/proficiency ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 and FDA design controls, required.
  • Advanced knowledge in FDA GMP and ISO regulated quality systems, required.
  • A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
